Re: Response back from BMWNA re: Launch Control

One thing is for sure is my view : You are having LC but only "Launchable" at a lower RPM than 4000 rpm, whcih not be as bad sicne a Launch at 4000 rpm will spin the tires and take out the clutch faster.

FYI if the car is not run in you cannot do LC.

So, dont worry about LC, you will get it.

Launch at 4000 rpm: spinnnign the tyres and moosing the start of the race vs Porsche 911 Turbo:

I actually didnt know you coudl adjust the LC, so a lower LC rpm would have been better in this case.

No nada not possible....

"Thank you for contacting BMW of North America, LLC regarding your new M5. Congratulations on your recent BMW purchase! We are glad to hear you are enjoying your M5.

Due to certain regulations in the United States the launch control feature is not available on United States specification vehicles. It is possible the literature provided by your authorized BMW center contained information regarding both European and United States specification models. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

If you have any further questions, please respond to this e-mail or contact the Customer Relations and Services Department at 1-800-831-1117, Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., Eastern Standard Time. Again, thank you for contacting BMW. "

That was my understanding. But if the other poster is correct - then the problem is even worse than I thought it was.

What determines if a car is run in ?.. is it automatic ? or is it a dealer enable thing.. if its the latter.. that will explain the conflicts of statements. since obviously the dealers are not enabling it for some reason.

Dealer initaied. It should be stated in the manual. In anycase, top priority is to do a correct run-in.

Re: Response back from BMWNA re: Launch Control

How can you all rely on that customer service reps words when clearly they said the wrong thing in their first response.

and relying on the product info guide which is an internal document is sketchy too. Does anyone know if an ammendment or revision was released to this internal document? Could this even have been a draft document sent out for edits?

Has anyone been told by someone that there will be Launch Control at 4000 rpm since all the final specifications had been released?
