Having spent an hour or so with the Beast this morning, I had a chance to access the Logic 7.
First off I'm a bit of a car hi-fi nut. Put it this way, the hi-fi in the Mini Cooper S cost me more than the price of the car (with options!) I just LOVE my music and demand the utmost quality (Prestige Audio in the UK are my installers of choice and I've used them for 10+ years and 4 cars: http://
www.prestigeaudio.co.uk).
However - after being burnt for the last time come selling the car - I decided NOT to go wild this time and be sensible so I opted for the Logic 7.
First impressions are that it's better than the Harmon Kardon upgrade offered a untill recently. It's a shame the paramatic options are restriced to two pre-defined settings (cancert and theater I think). SO far I've stuck a couple of my current fave cd's and although impressive, it'll have to be upgraded.
Now I'm talking purely from the perspective of a in-car-hi-fi junkie!! I sopke to Prestige and they've already stared looking into integrating with the MOST bus that BMW use (Prestige commonly dismantle Alpine head units doen to the PCB and do their magic with them - they provided consultation for Aston Martin and MacLaren for their road cars).
I told them I wanted to retain as much of the integration that comes from the factory install but I'm going to need a bit more sonically. They have suggested boosting the bass with upgraded (Diamond) subs and an additional amp. I'm going to leave the technicalities to them and look forward to the new improved system sooner than later.
ALl in all though - Logic 7 is definitely head and shoulders above the offerings from 99% of factory uinits.
