-------------> I can now do 205mph

Just got back from my London dealer who de-restricted my 165mph limit. It was all under the covers but thats the relationship I have with them. 3000 miles have been now been covered.

Now....why did I do it .....

Last Friday I had a duel with a Subara Impreza on the M40 back from London around 2am. When your hitting speeds of around 130-140...160 there really isn't a true comparison as your both hitting max power however my car felt it could offer so much more. 160mph was around 4000 rpms @ 7th gear - if I had the M5 de-resticted I could trully leave him trailing so it had to be done.

Will test it out tonight :-)

I think you are in for a surprise. BMW installed a seconde restrictor which kicks in at 190mph/305kmh. And they won't remove this one.

Frank.

errrrr that would be annoying and no one mentioned it...I'll check it out. I've got a new type tempreature indicator to ensure if I do exceed the tempreature limit for the tyres I won't push the speed above (n).

Of course you weren't really doing those speeds on the M40 - it was all a dream (n.b. these boards are randomly monitored by the authorities)

. hail the existence of German Autobahns, though even there, especially around the larger cities, the speed limit is quite controlled (at around 100km/h)

Re: -------------> I can now do 205mph

When I removed my speed limiter, BMW M ( Garching ) told me that the " second " limiter will allow you up to 305 km/h. Thatīs the absolute maximum. Probably it will kick in earlier ( built in safety margin ) due to the OEM tyres.

Re: -------------> I can now do 205mph

I thought the ECU had to be sent back to Germany to have the limiter removed (from a prior thread). Cost was around $2000USD as I recall. Can it really be done while you wait at the dealer???
