Angry New Clutch and Flywheel

I have been told by my dealer that BMW have advised them to order and fit a new clutch and flywheel to my car after only 1200 miles. Germany has a clutch but they are struggling to find a flywheel. Any help would be appreciated.

Thought it may just have been a software upgrade as per other members but it seems to be a lot more.

Has anyone experienced similar problems or have any additional info on this.

Thanks,

wdc

Re: New Clutch and Flywheel

What is the exact problem?

Your dealer should be able to order new parts from BMW, I don't see why they should be struggeling. After only 1200km it's still under warranty.

Re: New Clutch and Flywheel

No problem with the warranty and the clutch but there seems to be shortage of flywheels. i.e. none in spares. Maybe they can get one from production.

There seems to be a similar problem with tyres. I've just been quoted three weeks if I want Continentals! I can get Dunlops by next days, but the Contis are much better in the dry and more hard wearing...

Any news on your Scottish M6 yet or the mysterious black M6 from last week.

I was in Glasgow for four days over the weekend so I popped in to see my dealer (Harry Fairbairn) to check on the progress of the M6. It has been through the paint shop so it is very close to shipping - I should have it by the end of October. I can't wait to get it!

I'll probably bring it down to London and take my M5 back up to Glasgow as I have two little girls in Glasgow so the extra space would be welcome...

I still haven't seen the black M6 in Glasgow, but I did see one in Sytner in London on Monday. It was nice, but black just isn't my favourite colour for that car. It looks a little plain, too much like a standard 6 series.

Where in Scotland do you live?

Good luck with that. What is the exact problem anyway? Why would your car need a new flywheel so quickly? I could understand a clutch plate but a flywheel?!

Re: New Clutch and Flywheel

I got my new Continental rear tyre the same day in Leeds Yorkshire at the Scothall dealeraship. I needed a new alloy wheel and that came the next morning.

Re: New Clutch and Flywheel

If the clutch is damaged/has a production flaw, it has a very adverse affect on the flywheel. Ask any of the E39 guys who cooked their clutch

Re: New Clutch and Flywheel

It will be nice to have a 5 and a 6 to play with but working away in London every week can't be fun.

I too was in Fairbairns on Saturday morning trying to sell my wife's X3. Ended up giving it away to Henry Brothers for a little bit more than Fairbairn offered.

Have been told the clutch and flywheel are due in tomorrow from Germany and I should be mobile again soon.

Home town is East Kilbride although I got my M5 in London, St Johns Wood.
