I think what Chris means is the the M6 exhaust is unique to the M6 and is not shared with the M5. So there is nothing more "special" per se with respect to the M6 Supersprint exhaust.
I just pulled up next to an M6 being tested with distributer plates on the 5 Fwy in OC on Friday last week....I have to tell you that it sounded the best!!! A very high pitched aggressive tone. Just what you'd expect fron a detuned but aggressive F1 powerplant!
For those that know....will my new M5 (just loading) sound as good or is it really a different exhaust system? If different...what system would you recomend to sound as good as the M6?
Thank you Gustav. A teaser it is! It makes me wonder how the car would sound if one were revving it in place. I want to know if it is raspy like a Kelleners or bassy like the typical Supersprints.

I have complete Superspint "street" system on my Cooper S and complete system by Hartge on my M3. Supersprint is great in terms of quality and power it gives but then again it's very loud especially above 4000 rpm. Therefore "race" system by Supersprint must be extra loud.
So IMHO which ever You choose "street" or "race" M5 is going sound extremely loud.
Given the choice today I would go for Hartge but then again taste is a relative thing.
Yes ,Supersprint has been in the business of only developing performance exhaust systems since the 1955. Supersprint pioneered the T.U.V. approval of aftermarket exhaust systems back in 1965. They were the first to realize the need for a high level of manufacturing for quality, safety, and performance. Supersprint has developed private label exhaust programs for major BMW tuners such as Hamann, Hartge, Alpina, Schnitzer, and Breyton. In the Mercedes market Supersprint is the choice of Carlsson, and they have done projects for AMG as well. There must be a reason that all of these German based companyÍs have chosen Supersprint Italy for exhaust system development. Supersprint is also a member of V.D.A.T. This is an exclusive organization of manufacturers, and tuners that are the true performance tuners in the European performance arena.
1. Supersprint's complete exhaust system is still in preparation.
2. I saw on M5board that some owners have installed Hartge's system.
From that point of view I meant :"Given the choice today I would go for Hartge but then again taste is a relative thing".
Supersprint does not currently make the exhaust program for Hartge. Please do not be mislead into thinking that Hartge exhaust is made by Supersprint, this was the case in the past but is not the case now. Chris
We will have the BMW e60 m5 system on display at SEMA Las Vegas for in two weeks. It will be available shortly thereafter from us or your local Supersprint dealer. Chris
Thank you, I'm glad to hear you are pleased with your choice! When are you taking delivery of your silver e60 m5? Chris
