Tracktest with M5, M6, F430 etc.

In the latest issue of the Swedish car magazine Teknikens Värld they have a tracktest at Ring Knutstorp, which is a circuit in the south of Sweden. There are 20 cars participating, for example the BMW M5, the M6, Ferrari F430, Ford GT, Mercedes Kleeman SLK60, AMG S65 and Porsche 911 Carrera S.

The M5 finishes in sixth place and they think the car is really fun to drive with the right settings; P500S, S6-mode and DSC off.
The M6 comes in at place four. Like the M5 but a little bit lighter and more suited to the track. The M5 and the M6 had the same fastest laptimes at 1:17,2 but the M6 had slightly higher top-speed at 195 km/h compared to 191 km/h for the M5.

Here is the top-three:

3. Porsche 911 Carrera S. Fastest laptime: 1:13,4. Top-speed: 187 km/h.
2. Ford GT. Fastest laptime: 1:12,9. Top-speed: 199 km/h. The owner of the car drove that lap.
1. Ferrari F430. Fastest laptime: 1:13,4. Top-speed: 201 km/h. They thought the Ferrari was the funniest car to drive.

The AMG S65 finished last.

Re: Tracktest with M5, M6, F430 etc.

weird... the finnish sitter mag of teknikens värld had that same test but was one or two issues back.. I guess it depended on how much space they had, so as to when best publish it. The test actually was best Sportscar in Scandinavia (akin to the Evo Car of the year)

The kleemann was really fast, but the gearbox had some issues they didnt like etc.. and it was a comparison to what a tuner can do..

interestingly the finnish mag (dont know about the swedish) had also the cars given normal test results which are from 0-10 and the M5 and M6 received 9.1 and if I remember correctly, have to check, the other cars didnt have so good points. this was the points given as to how the car is in normal use (handling, acceleration, braking, quality etc.)

Re: Tracktest with M5, M6, F430 etc.

Lap times (small and not too fast track, 200 km/h max speed on the straight):

1. Ford GT40
2. 997 Carrera S
3. Ferrari F430
4. Maserati GranSport
5. Kleeman SLK K55 S8 (550 HP)
6. Corvette C6
7. BMW M5
7. BMW M6 (identical lap times to M5)

They said "BMW M5 and M6 is Bayerische Motoren Werke at its best" created by people with "Benzin im Bluth"

But the overall winner was thee F430 in terms of enjoyment.

Re: Tracktest with M5, M6, F430 etc.

It's amazing to see the new Porsche 997S so close to the Ferrari F430, especially with such a power difference.

Great to see the M5 at a top spot, but what about the M6? Didn't they tell us it was going to be much quicker than the M5? Maybe the track was too short to give a real advantage. Waiting for a test on the Nurburgring.
