I installed lowering springs yesterday and got the car aligned today. At the alignment shop they hooked up the car to Hunter CodeLink to reset all alignment/abs settings. In the process they uncovered few fault codes which were cleared. As I was driving back to work, I got the ABS/DSC failure on my idrive screen. Same error has been appearing for 5 seconds throughout the rest of the day. But it doesn't stay on. Below is a picture of fault codes that were stored before the reset (I'm guessing same ones appear now). Any ideas what they mean? I can't seem to find any info.
Thank you guys in advance! I'm hoping it's just one of the ABS sensors and not something major. Up until the suspension change and alignment I never got the fault code. Owned this car for almost 4 weeks
Seems like your steering angle sensor is not properly calibrated. It's all part of the Abs/DSC system. One bad fault may trigger a sequence. That's most likely what you are experiencing. They may have to re initiate the Szl/steering angle sensor and the DSC module. A proper Bmw diagnostic software similar to INPA/ DISvs 57 or SSS Progman may help get you back to basics. The proper software will help recode the car to its original vehicle order.Good luck!
Thank you for the replies. From what I understand, the least intrusive/expensive step is to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. Re-connect, start the car, turn the steering lock to lock to recalibrate SZL.
I also found a DIY on cleaning SZL sensor. Which is more time consuming, but seems effective.
Otherwise I either have to locate someone local with the diagnostic software, pay the dealer, or look into getting it myself and go from there with recalibrating everything through it.
Thanks! I had PPI done on the car 4 weeks ago when I bough it, I imagine these codes would've popped up during their scan. Hoping this is all alignment related.
