Sold the E60 M5 today after 4 great years, gone F80 M3.

Test drove a F80 M3 at my local dealer and couldn't resist. Massive spec £73,500 new, including carbon ceramic brakes and the full leather dash etc ( my M5 also had the full leather dash option ). M3 2 years old and 9,000 miles.

2006 E60 M5 & Mk7 Golf GTI DSG.

I've been thinking about doing this for a while... Seems like it has a lovely spec (I'd defo go for the comp pack though). If you don't mind me asking, could you PM me your dealer and perhaps the kind of deal you got on it? Cheers

P.S. Did you sell the plate?

Yes the M4 does nothing for me at all, just can't get excited when I see an M4. The M3 looks pumped up,love it so far. M3 quicker to a ton but the the V10 would leave it behind after that.

I had been looking for about the last year but couldn't part with the M5. Scanned the BMW AUC site everyday until this M3 came into my local BMW dealer. I am confident in saying it's the most specced F80 M3 I have ever seen for sale and not seen one since. It's a December 2014 so comp pack wasn't available then. I've checked the confiurator and the only option not specified from new was TV function. If I was buying a new one I wouldn't bother with comp pack myself as i always run mine in comfort mode as anything else is too hard for the road and the comp pack wheels are hideous, they remind me of allycats I had fitted to my 3.0 Ford Capri in the eighties!

M5 SMG plate is now on retention and up for sale with regtransfers. I paid £1600 for the plate 2 years ago and would like to see the same back. If not it will stay on retention until I decide to put it on one of my other cars or buy another E60 M5!

WOW, this is timely, as ive been thinking of switching for F80 M3 also. All wee need now from you is a comparison write up on the differences you;ve noticed.

I've only had it 2 weeks but for me it's better in every way. Just got back from a 800 mile holiday trip with a mix of driving 4 up with boot full of luggage I averaged 32mpg over 800 miles. That was driving in eco mode but still put my foot down now and again.
Handling is very tight and turns in better than the M5. Gearbox is much much faster. Full torque from 1800rpm. Active LED headlights and high beam assistant options are amazing. I drive much quicker. Love the fact you can open up the exhaust flaps if you want more noise. I'm suprised at how good it sounds TBH, sounds better than the V10 at lower speeds but V10 sounds better up top. Carbon ceramic brakes are just awesome plus no brake dust!.

Glad I made the change but really enjoyed my time with the V10.

Beautiful car, best of luck with it. Do you find it's kind of tight inside?
