59 plate
[quote=vj;1677227]I picked up my 2009 E60 on 28-OCT-09. For those in the UK, I have a 59 plate. How many other E60s on 59 plates in the UK? I was led to believe this was the only one.
My dealer tells me that in this time of economic distress they will only order an M5 against a customer order. If you use one of the trade magazines - like Autotrader - to search for a new M5 most of the time you don't find one anywhere in the country.
So yours was probably the only one at the time.
For our friends outside the UK, UK licence plates are for life of the car unless you change it to a personalised plate, it stays with the car when you sell it and even if you move to a different part of the country.
The approximate age of the car can be seen from the two figure number which appears on the plate.
For example 09 was for cars registered from March 1 2009 until July 31. The 59 plate goes on cars from 1st August 2009 until end Feb 2010.
I'm not sure what happens in the second half of 2010! It seems a weird system that only a Government official could have dreamed up anyway.
