What other issues to think of?

Hi All,
I am currently on my 2nd E46 M3. Looking to pick up an E60 M5 as well ... why not add to the fleet. The E46 M3 is far from issueless. Vanos, Rod bearings, etc.
I know the S85 suffers from the rod bearing situation - I have been doing blackstone on my E46 M3 - it is why I sold my first E46 M3 got some high copper levels over time and a unicorn came up so hopped on it.
Aside from routine Inspection 1 and 2 Maintenance, throttle actuators - are there any other very big ticket items that I might not think of coming from the E46 M3 aside from the expected higher cost in parts? Seems the Vanos on the S85 can be hit and miss?
Trying to avoid SMG as I prefer manual (not hating on SMG) although is SMG very problematic on this car?
Thanks, any feedback is greatly appreciated
