P0306, P0308 and Limp Mode

Good Evening All,

I am having an issue and wanted to run it by here before i bring it in to be diagnosed. I have a 2008 M5 with 112k on it and had an issue come up where around 2000-2350rpms I would get a P0306 and P0308 and the car would go into limp mode. No matter which mode the car was in it would happen. I can turn the car off and it would reset itself and if I drove out of that rpm range, it would be fine. I've had the oil changed (inspected for metal shavings was negative), spark plugs, coils, and fuel injectors. Anyone have any idea of what route I should follow before I bring it in to a auto shop or the stealership? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Assuming those are misfires on bank 2, I would swap ionic modules and see if the misfires goes to bank 1. Being both misfires are on the same bank, I would bet it's a bad ionic module. This is the first step in misfire trouble shooting.

if your spark plugs and coils look good, check the valve springs, which means the head needs to come off. Very common failures on this cars were the springs just brake into pieces.

Yes next would be swap coils around and replace spark plugs while you have the coils out and clearing existing fault codes. The warranty manual says to replace spark plugs every 37k miles. Then look at fuel injectors and then valve springs.
