They go for around $500. I had something similar in my 06 325i and they tend to be good at first for the usual buyer, but for a buyer that has high expectations they seem laggy and glitchy on some aspects. In my opinion I would try to stay away from these "Ebay" units and if you want an upgrade from the pre-lci radio upgrade to a CIC unit for a few dollars more and it will be OEM

What OEM screen can you throw in there that's more advanced and then why would you if you can't even use half the features on it?

A oem cic kit can get you most of the features you would probably get in one of these units.

IMO this is a good alternative to someone that might want more functionality than the CCC unit provides and does not want to spend 1K on a used CIC unit if you can find one complete.

Also, not sure about the laggy part - this is basically another monitor with touch screen functionally that allows all OEM functions and menus plus the added features on new menu plus updated looking GUI on the maps and navigation.

The CIC kit upgrade requires more labor, trim and pieces to finish the project - not sure where people think its only a few dollars in difference in price more like 400 or 500 USD before install.

These are 7 - 10 year old cars - while I agree OEM is always best on mechanicals and I definitely believe in being proactive and changing things out before they fail this is probably not one of them IMO.

The system is running an A8 CPU @ 800MHZ with 256MB of RAM - more than sufficient to run the GUI on the interface and stream music from phone - it shouldn't be laggy for the limited amount of processing power required to run the interface.

Instead of comparing CCC to CIC the real competitor for this product is probably more like the Dension Gateway depending on the one you want 250 to 500 - USD - IMO this is a more fair and accurate upgrade comparison.

Also, IMO I can't justify the current cost of 1k+ for a used CIC unit - again, thats my opinion .........

I searched youtube as well and saw multiple videos and installs looks to be pretty slick and most of the comments I read people were very pleased -

Lastly, it does not matter where you purchase anything from anymore - ebay, amazon, best buy, sonic electronics, HH Gregg - flip all of it over and look at country of manufacture - all of its made in 3 or 4 countries now and unfortunately none of it is in the US.

Yea but its still Used and 8 year old technology - how old is your laptop? desktop? cell phone?

Even low end to medium tech is far superior in todays terms than top of the line 8 years ago ....... just a thought and my opinion.

You have a point. But my Opinion comes from experience off of a similar radio. Yes, these radios are laggy and have their bugs and glitches. And i call them "ebay" units just because they all seem to come from china ehere most of them are made. A Cic unit is not to compare with a unit of this price. But it is a better quality item that will have a better quality all around. Research these touchscreen units and most of them dont last within a 2 year timespan. Usually the screens become blank or they "fry" internally leaving you with a $500 paperweight.

I understand and I am not faulting you for your opinion - I always want to hear about usage and actual experience - how long ago was it that you owned the interface and was it the same one? what were the specs on your old unit?
