New Style B&B Exhaust for E60 M5

As the title states, I will be changing out my old style B&B exhaust with the new style B&B exhaust. There are a lot of options out there and I have been very happy with the sound and overall quality of the current exhaust.

For those of you who have read my other post, you know that my car has a lot of mods and I use her as a DD and also pick up clients at the airport at times and travel to some of our local offices.

While I love her loud and obnoxious I have to be able to have conversations and speak on the phone while in the car so this is also a consideration.

This is what they say about their PRT technology:

The Billy Boat Performance Exhaust PRT after-cat system employs exhaust tech*nology unique to the aftermarket So unique, in fact, it doesn’t use a muffler at all. The Billy Boat Performance Exhaust PRT system is simple in design, though more complex in theory, which suggests that you can have a mellow sound at cruising speeds and a sport note when you’re tearing up the streets. It allows true straight through exhaust passage under aggressive driving conditions.

This is about the construction and reflective technology they use, never heard of Helmholtz chambers before. But I did some reading and it is a scientifically proven phenomena.

Learn more about it:

Muffler Design - Billy Boat Exhaust

After speaking with Mike Boat at Billy Boat Exhaust I decided to move forward and my new exhaust are currently being manufactured. Worst case scenario ship date is the 10th so I should have them installed by the 17th of Feb. Once they come in I will get some more images of them - then after install and mounted - of course I will do some videos and sound clips as well.

I'm pretty excited to be getting some new cans and I hope the sound is as good as i hope ....... plus the price they gave me can't be beat!

Stay tuned and I will update with some sound once installed.

I got the new section 3 from B&B installed yesterday - I have driven 202 miles since the install - my overall impression is that I like them very much

There is absolutely no drone - deep throaty idle but not obnoxiously loud - cruising around barely audible - but mash the gas and it sounds like an F1 indy car - the WOT sound level is much more aggressive over the old style - these are so much better in every way - I really can't say anything negative about them - they are hand made - employing people in the states and the customer service has been stellar.

Here are a few videos I shot just cruising around some - there is everything from driving in the city and downtown to the mountains. If you are looking for some maniac driving a fast car on busy public roads then these are not for you. If you interested in how these cans sound across several scenarios of daily driving then yes you might enjoy them.

sorry - there are some light crackles and pops in the audio here and there - also the mic is external

1. quick acceleration to light - https://youtu.be/rGOW3oAx5w0

Those look nearly identical to the Corsa section 3, main difference I see is more stagger between the exhaust tips. Looks nice!

I will be able to post some great videos soon -

Once hood comes in and is installed I will shoot another video of higher quality for the Billy Boat website - plus there will be some half miles runs posted in May from the wannagofast events near me.

Just trying to get everything to a stopping point on this stage of build -
