Found a nice looking E60 M5, has the upgraded Navigation/interface which is great compared to the old one.
Picked it up 2 days ago from a Mercedes Benz dealership, has 54k original miles 1 owner.
Color is space grey metallic on black, looks brand sparkling new, very happy with it so far.
It does have SMG, I had an E46 M3 SMG before, somehow use to it already, bought an extended warranty as well in case the tranny starts giving me headaches
Nice, welcome to the family! Make sure it's up to date on maintenance. Even though it's low miles I'd consider swapping out fluids (trans, diff, etc) simply because of the age if it hasn't been done yet. Also when you change the oil be sure to spend $28 and get a Blackstone Oil analysis. Do it every oil change and you'll be able to track the health of your S85 (and the infamous rod bearings).
Thanks guys.
I'm from Orange County CA and the car is/was at Mercedes Benz Walnut Creak about 400 miles from home.
After taking to the sales guy for a couple of days I asked them to hold it for me, flew Monday with the family and after a test drive and careful review bought it.
We have been enjoying the car since here in San Francisco, driving back home tomorrow Friday... will see how she treats us on our way back.
So far driving around has been great, other than filling up every other day no surprises
i ended up paying quite a bit to but had been looking for a 2010 with less then 25k miles and it wasnt an easy find...dealer also threw in a 4 year/40,000 warranty so i justified the premium for the peace of mind...purchased from bmw dealership and paid 38k, dealer had it listed for 42. Could not be happier as it was about as mint as you can find and also had all maintenance records.....enjoy!! mines not a daily driver but the gas station will definitely be a frequent stop...i get better gas milage on my crew cab f150 ecoboost
420 miles later made it home, the M performed great!
Average 80MPH some 100MPH, P400 S mode, took about 6hs ish and we stopped once to refill... roughly 1-1/4 tank for the trip.
We all made it safe and sound, time fora full detail, full tune up and enjoy the beast.
I had my E39 M5 for over 4 years and then changed to the E60 M5 which I've now had for over 3 years. It's now on 65,000 miles (51,000 when I bought it). Don't miss the E39 at all as good as it was, E60 is so much faster and loads of toys. Not sure how rare it is but mine has the full leather dash.
Enjoy your M5,looks great. A friend of mine had a space grey one, quite a rare colour over here in the UK.
I called the local dealer and ordered a few parts, both a pillars, SMG shift plate and steering wheel trim, once that's replaced along with all fluids will be flawless.
I like it. Just a short 12 week wait to hear if they will accept it. I tried NE14SPD but apparently that's gang related and not cause you like to go fast. If I had a Long Beach address I'd get it but I figured in Irvine it would be ok. #rejected
12 weeks isn't bad. I ordered my LOL AMG plate in June when I purchased my M3 and got the plates themselves in October. Had to keep renewing my permit every month, got very annoying. I was hesitant to get my custom Army Veterans plates with "V10" on them for the M6 for this reason, so I stuck with basic plates. Might switch the M3 plate to the M6 and put the veteran's plate on the M3 when the registration is due next month.

Did you black out the emblem yourself? Or did you order it?
I placed the order for the custom plate 5 weeks ago and still haven't heard from the DMV, who knows when will be done and if it was approved or not... they did charge the card already... they don't waste time there.
