B5 Time

This is not technically about the M5, but hey

I just drove Alpina B5 number 6. What an all-round car! The seats are supremely comfortable so I envy anyone who has gone for the multi-function seat option on the M5 (I haven't ). HUD was also great. Only downside was a nice English morning's weather - massive rainstorm which meant visibility was pretty terrible and there was surface water everywhere so no foot-to-the-floor antics for me . However, did manage to 3/4 throttle in a short tunnel and oh did it pull!

Even more looking forward to the end of July when my M5 arrives

No. Weather was so bad did not have chance (or inclination!) to stand and take any...also forgot to take any inside

Will try and see if I can get to drive it again in a few weeks time when hopefully it might be dry...

Re: B5 Time

Drove it today - never been so frustrated to be sitting in traffic - barely got to open her up at all, but there's clearly plenty of pace, lovely lovely soundtrack and fantastic ride quality...

Re: B5 Time

Went out in it again today...much better weather but (as Hythe above) too much traffic...got to about 92mph despite lifting off the throttle in a tunnel with the sunroof open and was indeed a nice soundtrack I think the M5 will seem faster even though it will be about the same, just because Alpina have, as normal, kept everything very refined - M5 is going to feel more raw I am guessing - and that's a good thing

Re: B5 Time

Horses for courses, I figure - I commute 110 miles each day in my car, so something a little more relaxed isn't a problem - also the gas mileage is likely to be around 50% better in the B5!

What time did you go out in it today? I was driving it with Russ from 1.00-2.30pm...

I gather a few of Sytner's late M5 orders have started to switch towards the B5. Also, that mine is currently still the only UK order for an E61 B5.
