Best to compare with someone else car with no cats, try a different fuel brand.

I had two e60s with catless headers (one was completely straight piped), the smell is normal. Tune wont solve the smell problem.

I have supersprint headers installed as well as secondary Cat delete.
K&N typhoons
Hartge accelerator booster
Now when I bought the car it came with all of these. The cars been running RICH like a burning oil tank but I figured that during the service and new clutch install the ECU was flashed back to stock and that is why the car runs rich to compensate for the different parameters.

1) Will getting the tune help the RICH problem?
2) Will K&N typhoons etc be incorporated for the high flow of air mass into the tune?
3) will the post-cat o2 sensors be made to switch off (because I just started to get the emissions service message)

Need help before Buying
Get the Fams tune, it will set the parameters in place and where they need to be, remove the SES/CEL light you might have on now on the stock software and headers, and you will take full advantage of the power the headers will give this engine.

FAMS can do alpha N no problem, but they have their own Alpha N hardware kit which is going to be fully plug and play coming soon.. Plug and play IAT sensor, block off plate..

Ok guys, so, I wanted to see what my car would make on the 93+ map, so I got some 95 octane, flashed my 93 map (Yes I did let the car adjust, drove 150 miles and did plenty of hard pulls), so here are the results:
496WHP / 347TQ

Mod List:
High flow headers
Meisterschaft section 1 & 2 with secondary cat deletes
Section 3 Agency Power valvetronic mufflers
FAMS Tune
BMC filter
EvoSport Pulley
RPI scoops & block off plates
AP Power Pedal

So, to summarize:
Before FAMS tune car dynoed 460WHP / 328TQ on 91octane

After the FAMS tune:
On 91Map 482WHP / 339TQ (22WHP / 11TQ Gain)
On 93Map 496WHP / 347TQ (36WHP / 19TQ Gain)

After a little to-ing and fro-ing got the FAM tune installed on the weekend. After install I wasn't able to take it for an immediate drive but started it (to make sure it still would I guess) and the difference was immediate. This may sound odd but the tune seems to line everything up. Idle was smoother than it ever has been and the typical mechanical racket that comes from the S85 when cold, even without having the cold start process deleted, is significantly less. Its odd but it sounds like everything is aligned.

Under power the car pulls harder. Shifts better and just generally feels like it should. Crisp and punchy. My seat of the pants dyno suggests an additional 20 bhp.

I'm a very happy owner and can't thank Jim enough for the extra hours spent coding a version he hadn't worked on previously.

If you're considering a tune, otherwise why would you be on this thread I'm guessing , do it. Awesome and more than reasonable bang for buck.

Cheers,
Matt
