Technically, it depends on the other tune as to whether they use tuning protection and lock the OBD port from reading. But, for the sake of ease and the purpose of having a master safe OEM file to revert to, I always recommend reverting to stock first.

I've had the FAMS tune (SMG car) for a couple weeks now. I put maybe 60 miles on the car since flashing the DME. In my opinion, not long enough to provide an honest thorough review, but I will say, with the ~60 miles I've seen - WOW!

I've owned a handful of stock & modified Audi turbo cars and fully understand and appreciate the benefits of tuning a turbo motor vs an NA motor. I was not expecting to feel significant gains, I stand corrected.

Initial thoughts:

First off, I love how Jim coded the S85 to react at cold start. I assume this behavior is an attribute of the "cold start delete" feature. No more lumpy cold start idle. Thank you.

Secondly, I have noticted the power band is significantly smoother throughout all the gears. Heck, cruising in 7th gear (D3 P-400) on freeway, need to pass someone, hit the pedal (keep it in 7th) it'll pull!

Last but not least. The smile. I still have this sh$t eating grin on my face from when I first launched in S6 with the EDC at full firm, the rear-end swaying and chirping all the way up to 4th. I now keep a neck brace stowed for me and my passengers who want the full "M button" experience.

More to come...

Car transformed, Drive Experience with a bigger grin on my face

Iím always on P500 normal drive with Driving Program set to 3 from the button in the centre console. And Iím always on P500 Sport via the M Button. I mostly do motorway/highway miles. After the tune I was therefore able to compare like for like.

Pre Order:
All my questions were answered before I placed the order.

Tuning Process:
I completed the tuning process in less than 10 minutes and Iím not as technical as some hot heads on this forum . The tune file was easy to download, easy to upload to the tablet, and the tablet was easy to use in the car.

Cold Start:
The annoying Cold Start noise and rough idling is gone! I tested this from very cold start, the RPM needle/gauge settled quickly, no noise and the engine ran smoothly.

Performance and Drive Experience:
As Iím always on the same Drive Program, I was able to notice the difference immediately. Absolutely: increase in power and Drive Experience. I went on a long motorway/highway drive after the tune; the car feels sharper, better response, more aggressive, quicker off the start line and smoother gear change. The engine revs up quicker, I'm forced to change gear quickly/smoothly, and with my Supersprint exhaust the sound gave me that grin Even start/stop driving around town is now more fun/responsive.

As for the Speed Limiter Removal, 140MPH is the most one can get on the long straights at Bedford Autodrome. I do a yearly summer euro trip and regularly hit the 170MPH (UK spec limit) on the autobahn. I canít test Speed Limit Removal yet but considering how the car feels now, I have no doubt Iíll crack it.

For me, Drive Experience matters more than DINO readings. I know this tune has transformed my carís performance. I did not expect this from a NA engine.

Jim, Keep up the good work. That we will get free updates in future is such a gift! Canít wait!

He had an unknown tune on the car that was on it when he bought it, saying that my standard M5 was quicker down the straights at our last trackday. He was also using a sprint booster.

I'm hoping to get mine in the next week or so. I will put a review on as well.

No, stock. Prior to the FAMS tune, I had hit 170mph many times but could not go further on full throttle. That confirmed stock tune for my UK spec car. Also, the FAMS tablet read my stock base file easily.
