I just got my rod bearings replaced on my 2006 and was looking to get the 4 solenoids replaced soon after an oil change... now I guess that won't be happening.

I know this car is pay to play, but wow!

Anyone else notice the 400% increase in price for

VANOS Solenoids?

I was looking at prices today. I found a bunch around US$400. When I went back later, the prices were > US$1200. Some places were charging > US$1500 for the part. It's like something was following me around, jacking up the price where I went.

I found some at AutohausAZ at a decent price and ordered 2 to put in my parts cupboard. A few hours later they notify me that they don't have any and that the are on backorder with no expected delivery date. In other words, anyone with an issue going forward with VANOS solenoids is going to be S.O.L.

I found some at lower prices today and when I went back, I found that the prices had gone up 400%. I was also told that they were on backorder with no delivery date. I had an order in for an attractive price and several hours later the order was cancelled suddenly. What a PITA.

If there is no delivery date, then the manufacturer is not making them on a regular basis and I think a lot of people are going to be SOL when their Solenoids get scrambled with dying rod bearings.

I guess Troy or JColley are snapping them up where they find them.

Assuming that they have some when you buy them. I found another place with cheaper prices and I'm still waiting to hear "Um. Sorry. Our inventory is wrong." There seems to be a lot of that lately.

I'm sure that there are more E60 M5s than E39 M5s, yet we seem to be the ones struggling to get parts. I now wonder if every auto parts mfg'er out there sold the 'M' company a bill of goods in the form of products that they just wanted to get rid of and never make again.
