Trouble contacting Fast Attack Motorsports?

Hi,

Just curious. I know Jim in ME is just starting up and must be super busy, but I am having a hard time connecting with them (Fast Attack Motorsports) at all. I need to find out about what rod bearing parts to order and their availability. Funding and a shop are already lined up. I want to do BE bearings/bolts with an update of everything else that makes sense. Hopefully this motor won't blow in the meantime! :-O

Thanks!

He is really busy. Took quite a number of days to answer a PM and still haven't got an answer to "contact us" missives. I guess the key is patience and give him a chance to get caught up. Besides the BE bearins aren't available anywhere until July (?), no?

Yes, I have mailed him directly a couple of times. I know about the July back order but I want to get all of the orders prepped and ready to go before then.

Hey guys. I've been spending a lot of time tuning a 6.0L stroker for @Troy jeup, so not a lot of time to spare. Having said that, I'm pretty busy but not too busy to get back to emails.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I seem to have emails disappearing and I think it's related to getting them on multiple devices. For some reason when I read them on my phone, they're gone forever and I can't reply to them from my laptop or desktop.

As for the BE bearings, I inquired directly with them today instead of the distributor and still don't have a firm date. I'm really not sure what to say, it's certainly holding me up on a few projects. I do need to update the website to reflect that.

As for messaging here on the forum, my box gets about 50 a day for random questions and troubleshooting, so it gets hard to make it through them. I always say that's why email is the best method, but apparently not the case.

Thanks for the heads up on this @Mark@Evolve , will try and get to emails this afternoon after I get some overnight shipments out.

Thanks Jim for letting us know! Would you post here once you hear back from BE about their S65/85 connecting rod bearings status?

My questions are these. I think I am going to order the following:

BE Bearings S85 set
BE Design ARP Rod Bolts - S85 set
S85 Rod Bearing Swap Parts Kit
S85 Oil Pump Chain Tensioner Pack
S85 VANOS Line Swap Parts Kit
S85 Oil Squirter Kit

Should I do these too while I am in there?

Front Main Seal (+$32.00)
Electric Oil Pump Seals (+$16.00)
Oil Sensor Seal O-ring (+$5.00)
Rear Main Seal (+$32.00)

Also, I keep hearing that "knocking" is a spun bearing. My valve train is noisy, but not sure if there is knocking or not. I do not want to invest anymore in this car if it needs bottom end work beyond the bearing situation. I figured the engine would be dead already if it has a real problem inside. Any thoughts?

Correct on the parts list. As for the last 4 items, I would only replace them if they are leaking, especially on the main seals. Very few people have the proper installation tools (I didn't until a few months ago) and often the seal outer bores get screwed up on removal. You don't need to remove the oil sensor or lateral electric oil pumps to do a bearing job either, so same applies for them.

As for knocking...if you question it...it isn't rod knock.

Thank you Jim!

I will put an order in soon, maybe wait on shipment until we know the BE timeline. If it turns out to be unknown, I may just go with stock bolts/bearings.

I'm going to order a throttle body actuator too.

Can you get me this part as well, by any chance?

If he can't get the carrier outside door handle, there are a number of used ones around. I used one of them on my 530xi to replace a buggy comfort access module on the RHS rear. Not too bad a DIY and it cured the parasitic battery drain.

Got the same on mine, just ordered one from ebay. Passenger front though.
