Oil, coils and supercharging

Hi guys, I bit the bullet and ordered the was 650 kit for my m6. Currently I'm running m1 0-40 oil and the car loves it, so much smoother and loves to rev. Just wondering would this oil be ok when I install the supercharger or would I need something heavier? I don't do track days and it's mainly a show car so lots of short journeys with only the occasional country blast.

Secondly, has anyone upgraded their coil packs or are BMW ones sufficient?

Thanks!

No need to change your oil, I am still running the stock weight myself with no issues. Also on the same coil packs.

sorry i should have wrote the car seems to operate better with my driving style. I do alot of short journeys so 10w60 doesnt always get to operating temperature before i turn it off whereas 0w40 does, which i assume is better for engine. Secondly, the car starts bang on everytime with much less cranking in colder temps.

Yes you are correct that freer revving and less noise does not equal better protection but as i said for my particular application i feel my car is suited more to a lighter oil but everyone uses their car differently.

Just reviving this thread with an update. Had my car in my local ess dealer shop and the intake temps are very high causing me to lose power, I suspect it maybe the m1 0w40 or my stock cooler not keeping temps down. Anyone have any input on this?

I had an issue with mine when being dyno'd (not supercharged) Radiator sensor reports high temp and ecu cuts power delivery. That was running 10w60 though. Check the codes just in case it's a radiator sensor, reset it and see if it reports under normal conditions.

Is it oil temps that are high or coolant or do you mean the air temp intake is too high?
