Hi all,
Any recommendations for a trustworthy indy in the London area or Hertfordshire area. Already use evolve in Luton, but want a go to mechanic for a list of jobs I have in lieu. BMW stealers are out of the question...

Cheers!

I have a guy in my local main dealer that will do bits privately. He takes the car in on saturday, uses their tools and their parts and stamps everything at a fraction of the cost, am i just lucky or are these people common?

Im in essex and there are a couple of specialists out this way with a good reputatuon but its a bit of a trek from london

BMW Technosport in Staples Corner London. Just before the M1. George is fantastic and has been taking care of my M5 since I bought it back in 2012. He's an M specialist (has his own M3 CSL racecar that he built) but also deals with non M's too. Guy knows what he's doing and talking about (although he's been quite busy atm) I can always trust him with my car.

Perfect, just down the road, need to get the waterpump / thermostat done and a few other things.

He's moved to Box Hill, Surrey I believe, not quite South coast, but not too far.

+1 for Phil Crouch (CPCE) in Amersham.

Not so impressed by Phil Crouch, 2 calls no return call for labour only quotes.

Shame, because if it was a good service I would use him regularly and for rod bearings (inc. parts) which I'm sure will be due soon.

I'll give it one more go and talk to him in person when I pass next.

I take mine to Highams Park Motors, they know their stuff and are ok with me taking my own parts etc. Labour is pretty reasonable and (probably more importantly) the number of labour hours are always sensible and they stick to their quotes. Also they're right next to a train station which goes to Liverpool St so I just drop my car off before work and collect after.

CPCPE are a bit too inconvenient for me and I didn't have a great experience at Technosport...

I've got mine booked in with Phil at CPC next Tuesday. I'm supplying my own pump and thermostat, bolts etc... Hopefully all goes well.

I'm planning on fitting mufflers, xpipe, rear discs pads and oil change myself fairly soon. Should be fun!
