Illuminated Door Sills?

I really don't fancy the E60 (non-M) factory option illuminated door sills as shown on this E60:



Way too much metal for my liking. Might just look ok in a silver car with the aluminium trim but for dark cars or those with wood it just looks odd.

A couple of questions:

(1) Are BMW Individual door sills usually illuminated (or can they be)??
(2) Are there any decent looking aftermarket ones for the E39 M5? I imagine that the same would be available, therefore, for the new E60?!

I probably won't get them but it's good to know what's available.
