Would prefer Fort Worth or mid-cities, but Dallas is fine too.
Looking for a good indy shop with experience in such job.
Thanks!

I am in the market for this as well. The only place I would go to in Fort Worth is Lone Star Bavarian. Trustworthy business but they will be on the high side and may not let you use your own parts. So probably Dallas is going to be the best bet. Maybe Isaac will chime in a refer a place. There is going to be more than a few of us in the DFW area that is going to need this soon.

I would not set my foot to LSB ever again.
Knowledgeable - yes, but their work ethic and customer service is questionable. Not to mention their prices are not much less than dealer prices, sometimes higher.
They screwed up my alternator bracket seal replacement on my other car, denied the wrongdoing. They charged me for transmission service - 2 weeks later same behavior - they just re-set adaptations and charged me for something else. Never returned my calls on gearbox solenoids replacement. Last week I stopped by to talk to Trent about rod bearings - he was "too busy" to talk to me - said via receptionist to call him later. WTF? Never again.

I would strongly recommend contacting Ultimate Bimmer: BMW Repair & Service Dallas - Ultimate Bimmer Service

I had them install my Evolve headers, H&R springs, and do some routine maintenance on my M5! These guys are incredible and offer competitive pricing, along with outstanding customer service. In fact, I'll be heading there when it comes time for my rod bearings swap :wink

I won't let any other shop touch my M5!

Doc, the shop looks good. Do you know if they have experience in rod bearing swap? I would prefer a shop that have done this at least couple of times before. Don't want to be a guinea pig :)

I'm not sure if they have any experience in a rod bearings swap, but I'm sure they'd be able to do it. Both Brent and Ryan are BMW mastertechs. Maybe give them a call and get some info.

I Wish my shop was open, up and running but i have not completed that transition.

Ultimate Bimmer and JP Euro both look and seem like great shops. i have only spoken with them over the phone and were nice enough to make time to hear me out and chat a bit about what my shop will focus on so im not stepping on anyone's toes.

DFW Bimmer in Euless is who i'd recommend for something as routine as an S85 Rod bearing job.

God willing, my shop will be in Crowley so it will be closer to the Ft.Worth/Arlington/Mansfield/Grand Praire/ Burleson areas

Anyway, Good luck finding a shop your comfortable dealing with and trusting your ///Ms with.

Coming Soon......///M Power Dallas

Maybe we should pull a randywei and nego a group buy install with UBS or JPEuro and a group buy with a parts vendor? I am waiting on the custom clevite rod bearings - http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e6...3042-custom-clevite-rod-bearings-s65-s85.html . I nominate Docv10 to spearhead this deal...:grin:grin

to all you DFW locals, we are getting together in June. http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/usa-south-bmw-m-forums/454898-dfw-summer-2015-gtg.html this would be a great time to discuss our maintenance needs.

Called all 3 to ask about the prices.
Ultimate Bimmer can do the bearings for $1800 labor/all parts needed BUT the bearings - your choice of the bearings there.
JP Euro would do it for $2600 INCLUDING OEM bearings and all other necessary parts.
DFW Bimmer said they would get back to me on the price, still waiting.
So, there. Pretty decent prices, I'd say.

Haven't checked on shops around Houston, but for prices like that, I'd make the trip to Dallas.

I know when I spoke with eurocharged about it, they hadn't done it and thought you have to pull the engine.

God Bless TEXAS!!! does his price include replacing the vanos high pressure line?

At a minimum, I'd want ARP bolts and WPC treated rod bearings. no sense in putting the update OEM bearing w/o coating in the car since their failure rate is greater than the old bearings. do a little bit of research and you find out what I am talking about. those are great price quotes regardless. we should definitely have this conversation when we are all together.

DFW Bimmer called back and said they'd do it for $2500 with all OEM parts included.
