Re: M5 tester at California

by the way, i just recieve dealer memo for the E60 M5 (for Canadian dealers). and it stated the car will arrive no later than Oct of 2005. which indirectly implies that the car will not appear in North America anytime soon, probably not before Sept when MY2006 starts.

however, it is also no secret that BMW of North America has been testing M5 extensively for a while. in fact the one of the first M5 prototype was spotted in around Sept of last year i believe. and why would BMW do that if they are planing to release the M5 for as long as a year later than European market??

i guess it's a bit unrealistic to hope i'll be getting my M5 within the next few months like many European members here. but what if...

i guess the taping is more iconic than covering up the lines of the car at this point.

is the car in Titanium Silver? if it is, i actually think the car looks quite attractive. especailly since i was never a fan of TiAg on E60 M5 ever since i saw the pictures of the Spain brochure photo shoot someone posted here about half a year ago.

My guess would be that it's Silverstone II.

While I am not holding my breath, I agree totally. And, keep in mind that it says "no later than Oct 05". Meaning it could fall anytime in between.

Unless production is REALLY slow, I would not be at all surprised to see them here in the spring or early summer.

Two comments:

(1) The spoiler looks fine
(2) Silver is very boring

Thanks for the photos.
I like silver for its easy to maintain properties. Variety is the spice of life- but hiding swirl marks is a good thing! Still- I think a jet black M5 would look very menacing.

Re: M5 tester at California

Does anyone have any idea why that car has a cover over its steering wheel and shifter? What would be the benefit to cover up those two items, unless of course they are "testing" some new equipment?

Just speculating,

Pierce!

Re: M5 tester at California

My guess is even though the press pics are out and the car even has a M5 emblem on it, they still have to maintain their testing protocols- maybe they use specialized parts on the test cars that they don't want anyone else to see....
