This 600hp engine is in development to be shared by the Caddy in question and the Corvette - to compete against the Ford GT I suppose.

Re: New Cadillac CTS V PLUS

Mike,

I stand corrected. Just went with what the salesman said on the spare.

As far as torque maybe it was me but it didn't feel as strong. I didn't really stomp on it but did punch it pretty good. Of course I shouldn't comment after only a few miles. I will continue to evaluate it.

Haven't heard anything from the salesman yet. By the way you can get your car mini-tubbed and go all the way to 345's on the rear. Mallett for one does it.

Thanks for your comments.

I figured the salesman told you that

What I noticed about the CTS-V is that you do not feel like you are going as fast as you are. This is much like the M5 or any other good handling car.

I know that I can go to 285's on the rear with no changes except the wheels. I think Cadillac should have put 9 or 9.5's with 285's on the rear from the factory!

The Cadillac site has a V-series vehicle option, I think Caddy is trying to market them much like the BMW M-series. CTS-V is the only vehicle under the V-series option, but I am guessing we will see XLR-V in the future. Perhaps a 600+ HP XLR?

Re: New Cadillac CTS V PLUS

I applaud GM for CTS V PLUS...
Car looks much BETTER, than E60.
Adding Vette under hood, it MAY settle E60M5 competition.

While MB, Audi, Porsche and GM are doing the right things, i...diotos at BMW AG corporate management and heads of so-called-design are continuing dragging BMW 5 and 7 more and more into the ground...

You have to be not-normal to accept current 5 front and current 7 front and the back. People, who designed them had very difficult childhood, never seen true simple beauty, instead are pretending to be a BIG SMART design "Inventors"/"revolutionalists". In reality there is just a LOT of NOTHING/VACUUM in their heads...

...like in a wisdom ..." but the king is NAKED..." Can you realize it, see it?

Such products, like CTS V PLUS, MAY finally cleanup i...diotos in current BMW AG, when MANY car true enthusiasts migrate FROM fake overpriced M-leader (E60M5) and leave BMW AG in a poor corner...

"Hp is not everything?..."
...It's NOT everything, but ALMOST everything.

I want TRUE M car, not just FAKE image underpowered overpriced UGLY vehicle! Not acceptable from BMW AG...

Re: New Cadillac CTS V PLUS

it will be supercharged. 600hp sounds just right

the t-56 tranny is a proven, strong, precise transmission- "notchy" is not how i would describe it- even in the viper- "accurate" and "unforgiving" is more like it.

wellhop is nothing to worry about - a set of stiffer bushing and camber change will do the trick

caddy is gaining some ground on the competition. way to go

Re: New Cadillac CTS V PLUS

I'm not sure about how the CTS-V feels to drive but it must be a compleatly diffrent car than the CTS V6 3,2 if it's to come even close to the M5. I currently have one on loan and I must say that I'm not impressed. I actually think it's the worst car I have ever driven( And I have driven some old beaters as well as some very mediocre European cars). I have just made a comparative test with two Skoda owners driving the Cadillac, the Skoda Octavia and my 528i from 1999 with 140000 km on the odometer and we all agree that the Cadillacc feels dynamically inferior to both the BMW and the Octavia. The interior of the CTS is A laughing matter. It's quality feel is even below a Hyundai Atoz. We even found an Atos to compare with and the owner was laughing at how cheap the plastic of the CTS felt compared to the Korean cars. Worth remembering is that the Korean car sells for a fifth of the Cadillac. If you take a look at the doors, under the hood and at the center consol you wonder if GM have any engineers at all. It looks like a kid could engineer it better using only Mecano and Lego. The chassi is unable to swallow even small bumps and it becomes compleatly unsettled on a normal Swedish road at low speed. A trip on a road of low quality had to be abandoned for fear of the car breaking up. This from a demonstrator car straight from the dealer. The only positive thing on the car is the brakes that are really impressive. The pedalfeel is nothing to write home about but it sure knows how to stop.

My opinion is that anyone saying that the CTS is a good car is either deaf and blind or havn't driven one. BMW have nothing to fear from Cadillac for the next decade.

Regards/Robert

PS. During a drive in the CTS a friend who used to be cab driver got car sick for the first time in his life and we had to stop. We were doing spirited driving at around 60 KM/H on a moderatly curved road at the time. This says something about the state of the chassi. I was also starting to feel that it might be a good idea to take it more easy and it's not uncommon for me to drive 90-100 km/h in the 528 on the same roads and I have never felt uncomfortable before. Ds

Re: New Cadillac CTS V PLUS

I have been burned by GM in the past and would definitely give it a year or so to make sure the CTS-V holds up to real world use.

Before owning a series of BMW M cars I owned a Camaro Z28 (the last body style with a Corvette derived V8). It had its moments but the quality was not there. Tons of cheap parts and no lack of squeaks, rattles and extraneous vibrations. Taking a corner at speed and hitting any kind of bump was an adventure, to say the least, thanks to a solid rear axle (obviously not an issue on the CTS). However, the CTS-V retains possibly the most annoying and useless 'feature' I have ever experienced in any car - the first to fourth skip shift.
