E60 M5 USA Arrival Date

Top source at BMW has told me again that the USA gets the car a year AFTER Europe, Oct. 2005. We'll see...

Re: E60 M5 USA Arrival Date

We'll see is right. I have heard different stories from different dealers. Nobody knows exactly when it will be here.

HAhaha My dealer told me Oct 2004 THIS YEAR... I just said "oh" and laughed inside... I hightly doubt its Oct 2004. Oct 2005 sounds about right.

Re: E60 M5 USA Arrival Date

I believe this is correct. When asked, a representative from BMW NA posting on Roadfly said the M model usually appears 2 years after the introduction of the series model. The series appeared in the Fall of 2003. Hence, the M5 appearing in the Fall of 2005. This means you wont see very many until mid 06. This also means a mid 06 intro for the M6 coupe and BMW has said there are no definite plans for the M6 cabrio (wink wink) that could be as much as a year behind the coupe, so mid 07.....

Re: E60 M5 USA Arrival Date

I cant see the reason why the no 1 market have to wait for so long? Although I remember in early 2001 when visiting BMW M there were alot of US-spec M3 E46 for testing purposes.

Is it emissions? I cant think that US must differ so much from EU regulations?

Gustav, it has nothing to do with emissions. It has to do with German pride."They get it first, then the Americans"We are always the last to get the best of anything, if we get it at all.The CSL is a car I would buy in a heart beat if it were available. It's not that the car can't pass our emissions standard or crash test ratings. It's the notion that American can't appreciate a car like this in such small quantiites. It's not worth it for them to import such a limited car. It's always been like that and most likely will remain like that.

Re: E60 M5 USA Arrival Date

Really? Sounds far-fetched. Esp. since USA is the M5's largets market and the "main infuencer" in decisions to quote BMW M officials in Geneva.
