E60 M5 test mule spotted in Malibu again!

Today I was in my jet black E39 M5 stopped at a light ready to turn south on Pacific Coast Highway, when I spotted a jet black E60 M5 heading north bound. Great timing! No Camera! With a quick change of plans and a fast left I too was north bound and in pursuit. DSC "Off", sport "On", and a blast into triple digits, I was on his bumper and quad pipes. The car looked like (was?) the same car in Marku5's 3/14/04 thread. Same wheels, body tape, etc. I was able to follow for about 5 miles and get a good view from the back, side and front. The driver was very casual about the whole thing. He smiled and acknowledged the M5 lurking off his wing. Unfortunately, I was running out of time and had to break off the fun. I would have loved to follow him to the Oxnard center as did C4M5 (2/17/04 post, silver E60 M5 and black M6). Oh well, maybe next time.

Note to self: keep cameras in car.

Note to driver of E60 M5: Thanks again. Please come back soon. You are welcome to join us for a Malibu run any time. Any time at all!

Chris

I don't have the perfect answer, but one way to get around the problem of speeding tickets while driving around in a company mule:

"Wisely, Lamborghini had given the first drive to the local chief of police. And surprise, surprise, there were absolutely no complaints at all as various Gallardos flew around the countryside being uhmm... tested."
Tiff Needell, 5th Gear.

Re: E60 M5 test mule spotted in Malibu again!

I'm remember that Gallardo test with Tiff.

Evo magazine did the same thing when they were testing cars in Italy. The police turned up and threatened to seize all the cars which included 360, GT3, Continental GT. After some negotiations and rides in the cars the police dropped the issue.

for a few bucks, could people please buy a disposable camera and keep in their cars (for snapping test mules) or (touch wood) for accidents?

Re: E60 M5 test mule spotted in Malibu again!

Nice! We'll install a webcam on his garage. I actually saw the test mule again, right at the light by Duke's. Unfortunately, I was headed in the other direction and on the way to the airport; otherwise I would have given him a little lovetap and taken some more pics.
