local mechanic to study E60 M5 next month
I was visiting with our "M" mechanic at the dealer here in town. He said he's going to get checked out on the new M5 in March. Makes it sound like it won't be too much longer now!

Re: local mechanic to study E60 M5 next month
The clock ticks...I cant wait for a review or my first ride in it. Hopefully not too much sooner, but my guess is around 3/4 of a year to a full year to wait still.... Thanks for the info!

I dunno.. makes me wonder how much of it is ego bragging doing on. Nothing against your area, but I imagine alot more BMWs are sold elsewhere (NY/NJ, CA, DC metro, FL, etc), making those techs much more likely to get early exposure to the M5. I have not heard of any other techs getting this access.

i would think that the effort of bringing up the techs up to speed on new cars is widespread across the country without any time differences between the regions

Seriously, bribe him or at least keep in very good contact with him so we know the info!

I believe he's mistaken. A lot of techs are going to V12 school now for the 760. BMW doesn't doesn't send techs to school on cars that are this far out.
