7-series sets new sales record
Successful 2003 financial year for the BMW Group
The BMW 7 Series achieved a sales volume of 57,899 units in 2003 and hence a new record for the model (2002: 53,504 units): the BMW Group has never sold so many BMW 7 Series cars in a single year as in 2003. Unit sales were up 8.2% compared to the previous year.
Apparently there are alot of people who appreciate Mr Bangle too.

Re: 7-series sets new sales record
It actually surprised me alot. I know first-hand info that 7-series is not that popular at the dealers, at least here. And also just be walking around in London, NYC or Stockholm you see so few 7-series compared to S-classe Mercedes.
How many S-class were sold in 2003?

Re: 7-series sets new sales record
In the USA, 7 series sales were down 7% last year....
Remember BMW said they are tailoring the 7 to the USA and Asia. My guess is its selling well in Asia.

Re: 7-series sets new sales record
I cannot say from where, but this is from someone who does know- BMW NA's sales numbers are not to customers- they are shipments to dealers. Some claim it to be otherwise - its not. I dont know about BMW AG- but if I had to guess, my guess would be its units shipped to the various dealers & importers around the world.
Now according to him- the Z4 is not doing nearly as well as the numbers suggest- the dealers are being forced to take allocations that just do not sell. And the 5 is not doing as well- as he put it- a test drive usually equals someone not buying it. He said its the idrive thats turning people off and not the styling.

Re: 7-series sets new sales record
I have noticed a similar problem with the Z4.. but the 5s are flying off the lot up here, I have yet to see more than a couple at any one dealership, and they are not there long.

Re: 7-series sets new sales record
My dealer called me the other day telling me about great deals on the 7 series. .9% financing, full warranty and maintenance on any '02 or '03 with miles on the clock. It would appear that selling the car is no longer the biggest challenge, getting the customer to keep the car is.
