I am wondering if others can help answer a few questions about the E60.
1. What is the deposit requirements to reserve a new beast - also can you customize what you want this early?
2. When is the first delivery expected?
3. Any idea on the expected MSRP?
Thanks. JP

Deposits will vary from dealer to dealer. IMHO you should not have to put down more than $500- but again, it will vary, and part of that will be how much business youve done with them. Make sure the deposit is refundable until the car arrives at the dealer, or at least is produced.
No one knows for sure when the M5 will arrive here, but there are guesses. The earliest I have heard is very late 2004. My guess is there will be a 2005 model year car but it will be very limited quantities and will be available in ~Nov 2004. There will be more volume around June 2005 and the car to get will be the 2006 model in Aug/Sept 2005.
We've also been speculating on MSRP- but its only guesses. My guess is low 80s- so say its 82k with all options but before taxes.

Youre welcome. Now I am not a big fan of the new styling, but if you want to get a new M car, I suggest you get on a list now. I have no doubt there will be short supply at the beginning and lots of demand. My suggestion- get an early spot on the 2nd year production. This allows you the chance to see a few on the road or at the dealer, and it allows BMW to work out any issues. Ive also noticed that by the time its year 2 in M production, its usually when the base model gets a little updating, eg- the angel eyes and widescreen navs on the E39s.

I put down $500 last December for a 2005 model. My dealer tells me that the car is due to come to the US late 2004. But I think I will wait for a late 2005 delivery for the M5. This will give me time to enjoy my M3 which is now 9 months old.
