So as stated in my new members thread I just got the car back the menders after only owning it for a week. The car had p0335 code and the dash lit up like a christmas tree for all sorts of errors. Driving home today I brough the car up to 5000rpm and the car trips out with an error DSC malfunction and orange cog of safety. Code read my car and I get a p0339 code now. Tried clearing code and going for one more drive and still trips out at 5000 rpm.

frustrating only having put 200 miles on this car and having all the problems already. Im hoping this isnt a full on SMG failure.

That is unfortunate. These cars need a lot of preemptive maintenance if you want them to be trouble free. If the previous owner did not do preemptive maintenance, but only fixed things that actually needed to be fixed, this can be expected :sad3:

Good luck my friend. You and I both purchased at about the same time. Within an hour I started getting cogs, knock on wood, it was an alternator. Yes, still cost me a good chunk, but it could have been worse. I didn't want to disturb the extended warranty since it was just purchased, so i came out of pocket.

This happened to me when I bought my 06'. It's my fault for not researching the car before the buy.

Now it's sitting in my garage until I come up with the moneys. But I don't regret getting the car, I love my beast.

These posts are exactly why I bought my car from Carmax with a full warranty. I have had my share of problems with my 06' and the warranty has paid out over $20K for repairs in two years of ownership. They are about to pay for another throttle body actuator next week as a matter of fact.

I have paid out absolutely nothing, when the car was in the shop for close to a month for transmission repairs Carmax even paid one months payment towards my loan and threw in an oil change as well.

The only place to go for a used M5 is Carmax, unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for a warranty from BMW or another dealer. I went to the local BMW MINI dealer and they quoted me $9300.00 for a warranty which covered very little. Carmax CNA cost me $2000.00 and it covers almost everything!

Good luck with the cars gents.

Exactly what I did and the only way I purchased my M. If I wasn't able to purchase an extended warranty for a reasonable cost, I would have moved on to something else. There was a clause that they have the ability to cancel the warranty within the first 60 days, with that in mind, I chose to pay for my alternator out of pocket, thus not disturbing my warranty before the 60 day mark. Didn't want to give them any reason to cancel on me.
