I've started thinking about options and I'm really interested in an Alcantara Steering Wheel like the M3CSL and RS4 have.

Do you think this will be possible on the E60 M5 or will it not be available even through the Individual Program?

Yes its beautiful and real good grip. In worst case you would be able to buy a M3 CSL wheel and mount that.

It shouldn´t be a problem to get it through BMW Individual.

Here is the part numbers for the alcantara items fitted to the 330i ZHP:

alcantara wheel: 32 34 7 919 218
alcantara ebrake boot: 34 40 7 919 214 $40
alcantara shift boot: 25 11 7 919 219

Oh when you mention it Mr Janne I remembered we saw an Individual suede steering wheel at BMW M.

the Alcantara wheel is now offered in the US Spec 330i with Performance Package. I am sure that part is easy to source from your local dealer or direct from Germany.

Picture of the wheel on the 330i w/PP at the NYIAS. It feels very comfortable and grippy, but wash your hands before you drive

does it have the special M stiching? Thats one mod I would consdier doing- it looks great!

not on the one I saw in the 330i. I would imagine it to look quite nice with the M tri-color stitching.

Thanks for the pictures - this is exactly what I had in mind.

You should be able to fit the CSL wheel into the E39 M5 provided the wiring is compatible. This is a potential problem and the main reason why older (pre 2001) E39 cars cannot retrofit the current wheel.

I don't think the new E60 wheel would be compatible with the current E46 CSL (or E39) wheel.

I shall try and specify the alcantara wheel on the E60 and keep you posted on my progress.

Does anyone know if these alcantara wheels start to smell after a while - I wouldn't want that
