Windows do not operate after Passenger rear view mirror broken off

The passenger rear view mirror was snapped/broken off my 2008 E60 M5. With the exception of the passenger window all the other windows do not work. The driver window control panel does not work either.

Is there a can bus fuse that may have blown when the mirror was broken? The 3 wires to the mirror are not shorting to anything now but perhaps they did when the mirror came off?

I ordered a replacement mirror from a parted out car of the same year, model and color ($625 ouch). What kind of programming will I need to do?

Thank you for any advice. Nathan 813 426 3549

Oh, I forgot to mention that all the windows are down by operating them from the wireless key fob.

Try to reinitialize the windows to regain function. To do this, follow the below instructions exactly.

Initialization

Following replacement of a power window motor or a door module and following every repair to the power window mechanical system, an initialization must be carried out. The initialization serves to adapt the anti-trapping protection to the power window system. The initialization procedure is divided into the functions standardization and learning the characteristic curve.

In the case of standardization, the mechanical end stops of the power window are learned.

In the case of learning the characteristic curve, the mechanical closing forces in the power window are recorded.

The initialization must always by run with the power window switch on each door!

Control procedure for initialization:

Press the window 'open' switch beyond the second switching position. When the window has reached the lower final position, operate the switch for at least 15 seconds but not longer than 25 seconds.

Then let go of the button and immediately pull the switch beyond the 'close window' position. Do not let go of the switch!

The window now moves into the top final position, stops, then moves to the lower final position, stops again and then moves back to the upper final position. The switch must be held in the "pulled beyond engaging point" position during the entire procedure.

Once the window has reached the upper final position, the initialisation is complete.

Important!

It must be ensured that there is on-board supply voltage of at least 12 V during initialisation, otherwise initialisation of the power window is not possible.

The anti-trapping protection has no function during the entire initialization procedure.

Emergency operation

If there is no valid characteristic curve, the one-touch closing function is unavailable. If there is no standardization, the Automatic Open function is also disabled. In this case, the window only moves around 2 cm in the desired direction with each press of the button.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out there was a Pbus short and 2 blown fuses that are not properly marked in the trunk fuse guide. I went thru every fuse in the car. The two that were blown were under the glove box.

Now I get into taking the door card off.

Good to hear you found the cause.

Help needed: Same but different

Driver side mirror broken off while car running.
Driver door mirror/window/shade controls quit working instantly when it happened.

Removed door panel and replaced mirror and glass with new OEM, without incident.
Did not appear wiring was "pulled" past sealing grommet.

Door controls still not working.

Ribbon connection to glass new and ok. Mirror connection to wiring harness in door new and ok.
All fuses have continuity. . Puddle light driver door working.
Buttons do nothing, cannot begin window initialization as suggested above.

Disconnected battery again after install for 8 hours to see if LIN bus was freaked out by sudden loss and might settle , but no dice.

Don't know where to turn ?????
Many searches yield people throwing door module (TMFA) or driver switch block module( SBFA) at similar problem with no avail.

Software will actuate the window, but not the mirrors and does not "recognize" door or airbag modules?
There are no fault codes or shadow faults.

The FOB will operate the windows including the drivers door, so there is communication between CAS-SGM and the door module for sure.

Thanks for suggestions.

Update

Fuse 32 10A

Visual inspection (passed or passed over on multimeter test) yielded blown fuse.
