Hey Fuddy, I noticed on the 5series.net thread someone requested the panoramic sunroof instructions. These look like they are for that, is it any different? I noticed one of the .pdf's specifically says E61 panroamic.

Thanks again!

It is not difficult, just take your time to do it.

Slide the sun roof all the way back, and then peel off the old seal. If it is original or has been installed a long time it will probably leave the adhesive and parts of the seal still on the sun roof surround. Use some white spirit to clean it off.

Start placing the new seal at the midpoint of the roof surround, making sure that it is flush with the roof and pressing it firmly on to the surround. Maybe use a roller or a bottle to make sure you have a good fit. When you have placed the seal, you will notice that the new seal is too long (about 20 cm or so), so needs to be cut exactly. This is the tricky part, so line it up a few times before cutting, otherwise you will end up with a gap between the two ends (ask why I know...).

The sun roof then needs to be initialised, as the resistance will now be greater when closing, so the anti-pinch mechanism will kick in. From memory, press the button to tilt up and keep holding it till it does the whole process.

I did this today. It was a PITA to strip my old weather seal. My vote would be let the dealer or indy shop do it next time.
How so? Did you use any residue remover?
