Is it bad to drive 140 MPH plus for 2-3 hours?

My M5 has been driving between 120 mph and 160 mph for 2-3 hours at a time. Is it normal for the M5 to burn up oil? We have to add oil after a long run. Is it bad for the car to run it the fast for that long? Or was the car made for that purpose and does not effect it in a bad way? Is it ok to drive the M5 fast for long periods of time? What is it hard on if this is done from time to time?

My question is where do you find enough road to drive at those speeds for that long without attracting the attention of the police in Orange County? Besides the 73, which is a big speed trap anyways.

And to answer your question, no it's not bad. The S85 is an F1 derived engine. Look at the F1 engines, they run at high speeds for 24 hours at a time!

just make sure you have oil in that baby and you should be fine. the motor only recognizes rpms, at 120 your barley going what maybe 4000-4500 rpm in 7th (assuming u have smg) not much for this engine. but the question remains where the @#$% are you driving? did you take the ferry accross the pond or something?
