V10 Airbox Access?

I was looking at inspecting my engine air filters in my new to me '09 V10, and it appears that it is quite a tight fit to release all the retaining clips. It even looks like you need to remove some other components to achieve access and lift the airbox covers off. Is this even doable for the DIY'er?

Please search and/or check the DIY sticky thread at the top of the e60 forum's section page.

It is a great resource for repairs and how to do things yourself.

Be careful with the clips as they can fall off.
