E60 M5 high oil temp

Hi

Please forgive me if this has already been discussed I did a search but it did not come back with anything.

Whilst driving yesterday and thrashing it a bit I noticed the oil temp rise to 100 and went to rest at just over 100. The temp dropped back to 100 and then to just below while cruising.

The outside temp was hovering at about 32 degrees (makes a change from the rain)

As always help and advice much appreciated.

Completely normal, it can go a bit to 125 based on your driving and climate. If you still don't like it, you can go with an RPI oil cooler (don't have one installed myself) or Hasan's mod, or move to Canada lol

Moving to Canada sounds like a good deal.

I had the engine overheat message yesterday too I suppose this is just normal for these bad boys!

Many thanks for fishing out that link.

Might be worth taking it into vines to check coolant levels or topping up, if applicable

By the way is there a way of doing this your self.

Normal, how about adding 2,5 litres of oil? Don't ask.

The oil reading is currently 0.6L. Could this be causing an issue??

It's normal, my remark was an attempt of irony on my own behalf.

I was the one stupidly just pouring oil into my engine, waiting for a oil quantity reading.

No.

If the car needs oil, it will let you know. When it does, it will ask you to add a liter.

M5's burn oil so it is not unusual for the oil level to drop.

Read your owners manual.
