Um, so I'm an idiot. After reading many threads on EDC malfunction, the usual culprit when it's right after a spring install is a loose connector. I'd done a wiggle check but realized upon closer inspection that though the driver side front connector was in the grooves, it wasn't snapped completely in. It'd worked itself off so it was only intermittently working I'm sure.
Didn't have to reset anything. Two ignition cycles and the EDC malfunction is gone and it drives in comfort mode again.
This does make me wonder about one thing though. I had hoped that when the EDC malfunctioned, the shocks would essentially just become comfort shocks. But if malfunction EDC makes the shocks ride like they're in uber sport mode, I guess my assumption is wrong?
