LE his 426 Hemi and my M5....

So, after I got my morning coffee I decided to take a trip out to Palomar Mountain (around 9am) and I always stop at the bottom (by the big oak tree) to ask the guys on the bikes if any cops were on the mountain, but because of the car right behind me I decided to just keep going. I proceed around the first couple of turns with each corner getting faster and faster as I build a bit of heat in the tires before I really "drop the hammer". After about the fifth or sixth corner the car was feeling very good the and tires seem to be working well and I went ahead and really started to "run the mountain". As I exited the third corner at speed there he was coming down and had me "dead to rights" I had run the classic "outside inside outside" line and sure enough I was well over the posted speed limit.
As we passed each other we exchanged looks but I kept on going and as I exited the next corner I thought I heard sirens but as I stood on the loud pedal and the RPI exhaust started singing the sirens went away. Well, that happened for about the next mile or so until I started to get a feeling perhaps those sirens that I was hearing (seemed to be getting further and further away) might be for me. I then started to look for a safe place to pull over and as soon as I found one I pulled to the side completely off the road and waited, well the sirens did get louder and sure enough and he came around the corner (and I proceeded to pray very intensely) and pulled right in behind me.
He walks up to the drivers side and asked for my drivers license and I gave it to him, then as usual he asked me Mr.____ why are you going so fast, and I said "because I am on Palomar" he then asked me if was waiting on somebody or I heard his sirens, and I told him that I pulled over because I had heard the sirens. Then he said he was going to give me a break and only write me for crossing the double yellow, but not for speeding and he said was clearly speeding. I quickly told him that I didn't cross the double yellow, then the conversation changed.
He asked me if I was aware that his car had a 426 Hemi, and I told him I wasn't aware of that fact, but I did let him know that my car came stock with 507 hp. Then he told me he he would have caught me had I not pulled over, then I told him that I thought he was going away from me because his sirens were getting quieter and quieter and only as a precaution I pulled over.
Still holding my license he told me the longer we talk the more people will see that I am pulling people over and handed my license back to me shook my hand left. I watched him make a u-turn as I pulled away and I took the next few corners slow as I built up some heat...

Was hoping the story would end in a race between you and the cop, but I suppose that could never really happen... Cool story nonetheless.

Great cop, the cops in Finland are like robots when it comes to speeding... Zero tolerance.

Good story. Pretty sure it wouldn't happen with a trouper in the Chicago area. Maybe we don't have hemis but what about semi-hemis? Take a look at the heads-doesn't part the wall sections look curved? Whatever...

I was 100% certain I was getting a ticket, that's why I was honest and told him that "no" he wasn't catching me and that I had crossed the white line not the yellow. Plus I figured the good Lord was sending me a message since I skipped church to go out to the mtn.

Haha that was great and as a Mopar guy it made it that much better. That poor cop would have never caught you though and the fool thinks he has a 426 the largest modern production Hemi right now is the 392c.i @ 470 pathetic Hp; I say pathetic because it is rough and does not produce it quickly.

I just drove the 5.7 version in the Challenger and my god is this thing slow; and that is why I drive an M5 now and though I look at Mopar, I just can't go back

Everything you wanted to know about the modern Hemi and the Mopar cruisers:
