Painting Calipers

Guys,

So I recently painted my mirrors and RPI Scoops Lambo Orange and would like to paint my calipers the same color. I can not find any High Temp paint that is even close to that color. Ive looked at Duplicolor, VHT and a couple others with no luck. My question is can I just use the normal paint and then use a high-temp clear coat?

Thanks for your help.

Kendall, the short answer is no you can't use normal paint unless you plan on painting them every few months because they're going to peel from the heat. Have you tried G2? It's awesome stuff and many folks here swear by it. If your car is truly Lambo orange and you have the color code then G2 can match it and ship you the paint ready to go. Here's a link...

That's great to know. I'll call them tomorrow with the color code and have them match it. Thanks

That's the stuff I used when I did mine, they have many colors to choose from.

I respectfully disagree. i painted mine entire brake setup myself, in my garage.

i took the brakes completely apart, cleaned them thoroughly with brake cleaner, applied two coats of self-etching primer, two coats of my color Corvette Velocity Yellow and two coats of two-part primer that i mixed myself. i allowed it all to air dry for 24 hours, reassembled my brake system and 6 months later....no a paint chip in sight. even after driving cross country from Detroit to Los Angeles and the fact that i drive my car daily like its stolen.

(the back side of the brakes w/o clear coat are chipping however. i think the clear coat helps seal things.)

Your car looks amazing. That color really sets your car apart.

I called G2 and gave them the PPG color code for the 2012 Lamborghini orange I had my mirrors and scoops painted. They are matching it and shipping it to me on Friday. Those guys are very helpful. I'll be posting pics as soon as I'm done.

Thanks everyone for your help.
