Exclamation complete system failure help!!!

Help and avice needed. I have an 06 w 60k miles. The car was workimg fine. I installed the factory ipod kit myself. I worked fine w idrive w/o having the dealer reflash anything. It was a simple plug and play. About a week ago, when i was driving, the dash lights and the screen flicker on and off from time to time. Then different malfunctions signs come up. (Transmission failure, abs failure, steering failure). But then they disappear and my steering wheel feels like its been locked. Has anyone experienced this and what did you do. Thanks in advance.

how long ago did you install it? if you ask me it doesnt really seem related. seems morel like a loose batter connection or bad battery/alternator?? but i could be wrong.

my 06 has about 57K and a similar thing happened a while ago. Things just locked for a day or so. If I recall I think it turned out to be a battery issue. Check ans see if your battery has been replaced in the past.

Thanks for the quick response guys but I installed the kit a month ago n since I barely drive the car. I just took it out a couple weeks ago n noticed the issue. I did get the recall notice for the battery terminal. Could that be possibly related.

If the cable is loose, yes it could be.

Check the battery connections if they are all solid then id look into the battery itself or the alt.

But I'd be betting on battery.

So I checked out the battery. There's no production date on it. I also tested it and has 12.4 volts

It is probably the alternator. I hade the same issue, and that was the culprit. Luckily mine was covered under CPO.

Stealer said its the alternator and they want 1400 which I think is crazy because the part is only 515. I'm now looking for an INDY shop that can do the work. I just think 900 in labor is crazy.
