Depreciation of 2006 m5

Hi All,

I currently own a 2006 M5. Black on black, aluminum trim, about 60,000 miles. Just out of CPO warranty. 2nd owner, bought the car certified. No accidents. Very clean.

It would be so hard to sell, however I'm thinking it may be time considering the maintenance cost and depreciation due to the new body style coming out later this summer.

My question to everyone is #1 is the amount I will get not much different than what I will get after the new body style hits the road? Or have we seen this reflected into the price already?

My plan was to sit and see if anyone will pay $38,000+...which I know is probably not a steal but I don't think it's completely unrealistic. For the right person who wants this color, interior, low mileage, etc.

Really would like someone to comment on the value forecast so I can decide whether to sell now or wait 3-5 years. My worry is that the value drops significantly in the next 6 months...is this the case???

I don't foresee the f10 affect the price of used 2006 m5s very much. Two totally different groups is people.

100k+ vs <35k(IMO)

The day warranty fell off they took the hit. I think they will stay relatively stable.. But what the hell do I know. Ita just an assumption. Lol

Cheers!

I don't think f10 hitting the US will affect value. Different buyer base for 100k new cars vs 40k used car.

I think you are off on your car's value, since it is pre lci, no longer has warranty, and 60k isn't exactly low miles. I have an 08 with 55k miles, every factory option, and 1.5 years left on cpo, and I think mine is worth 40k tops.

Quick answer is I don't know.

I am in the market for a used E60, but am looking an '08, '09 and now even '10's. I had a firm offer in on an '07 with 60k for $36k at a stealership, so I think your $38k is high. Another comparison is I had a private party '08 with 60k down to $38,500.

Most of the '06's on the market are in the mid to very low 30's with two lower mile cars (37k-45k) at $34,900. If you had an extended warranty still in place with a great company I think you could swing $37k-$38k, but not without.

Either way, if you own the car free and clear and are looking to buy a new car your sales tax savings by trading in a $30kish car will equal the amount you are losing on the trade.

hold onto these cars guys! dont sell they will be classics. when your older your gonna telling yourself "man i wish i had never sold that car". as far as the value going down further... no not on a v10 m5. lowest i think theyll ever get is 30k unless its a poorly maintained car. keep it clean and youll get 30k forever until they go up again as classics. look at the acura nsx as an example.

I have an 06 with 40K miles in excellent condition and honestly I don't think I can get 25K in the open market,
but it does not matter to me because I am keeping it for the long run,

based on my experience you can deal a car up to the point where it is still desirable by the OEM dealers, after that I would not buy or sell it, you loose money either way

I am keeping mine till it doesn't run anymore.
No other car new or used in the $35K-$50K is anywhere near the car that the M5 is.
