3rd gear pulse

I have an 08 M5 - SMG. I notice that after a 2-3 minute warm up and light driving along my route to work, there is a 30 mph street with a slight grade that I run in 3rd gear (about 3,200 rpm) easy. I can feel the engine having a light 'pulse' in power, very less noticable in 4th. I've also noticed that when I hit the freeway (engine oil temp about 200), if I get on it in S500, there is a more definite surge. As though the tires are slipping on and off (no tire squeel). My fear is that these are early signs of the clutch giving out.

in 30 years of driving, I've never had a clutch go (and figure I'm due). I'm just curious if others experience anything like this?

Do you hear any wired noises? While driving, accelerating, at idle?

Every once in a while the radiator fan comes on right when I start the car from cold. Rarely, but more often lately, there is a sound that makes me think a bearing is needing some lube. Actually it sounds like cars did when the A/C kicked in and the A/C unit's belt was going - but it isn't the A/C. I'm not thinking these are related. The enging pulsing is pretty faint, but we're all in tune with our cars, so I notice it. I'm not sure a passenger might.

However, when I go WOT as described - something I need to go play with and figure out exactly when I can reproduce it. I'll go do that and confirm/deny if it happens always when in M mode or not. Thanks for the reply. My biggest concern was a sign the clutch is going.

Please keep us updated. How hard is the surge? I just went through an SMG nightmare and am curious

What throttle mode are you using? P500S?
