Stopped by the shop this morning to check on progress and drop off a couple of items. I thought the head lights would be ready, but I may not pick them up until Monday to show pictures. In the meantime, here are a few of the Diamantschwarz metallic (BMW color code 181) accents being added to the car. Besides carbon or sapphire black this is one of the few colors that compliment the Indy Red.

That stuff on the front side is some special 3M bonding agent used for EPM/PP bumper materials - yet another reason I chose to use OEM parts because of similar materials.

I'll take some pictures of those little staples as well as the backside of the bumper so you can see how it's held together.
Thanks very much, always nice to see how you put the two pieces together........However I do have plenty of bubble gum

It was touch and go initially, but I'm pleased to say that it looks like the prognosis will be positive. Several modifications are ongoing with lights, bumpers, wheels, and paint. This all started with the front bumper needing a respray and has spiraled into a full blown mod project!

I still have 2 - 3 weeks worth of work left before completion, but I thought I'd give you a teaser of things to come. I'll use this thread to continue to update the progression...
Hey RedRum5,

I kno exactly how you feel!! my car has been under surgery since first week of June and co-incidently I'm having exact same conversion on my front bumper "1M bumper Retrofit"...I guess I'll have a twin hehehe...I still have another month before everything is done on my car--it has been a long agonizing wait to say the least

All the parts I've collected over the months are finally getting put on the car...the shop I chose is the same shop that did John Morgan Evans's car "Gunther"...cosmetics, performance, conversions n paints **sigh**

Just like yours, mine looks promising as well...

Lookgud,

Are you having Randy at Ranz do your project? They seem to really know their stuff. I talked to them about my project on the phone and decided against shipping my bumper across country twice!! They would have been a great option though since they do this kind of work all the time and JME's stuff always looks amazing!

Feel free to post some of your pictures on the thread and we'll make it the 1M Retrofit collection here. I'd love to talk to you about the parts your swapping out and what challenges you've had so far. This is NOT an easy conversion, but I think it's going to be well worth it! PM me your contact info.

Headlight Mod

Finally got the headlights back from the painter. Did a stage 3 wet sand with UV clearcoat to make them look new again. These are Euro spec headlights that I purchased a couple of months ago. I sent these off to Luis at OSS Design to have the following done:
  • Inners completely blacked out including high beam reflector
  • OSS Design LED angel eye rings (similar to Orions)
  • White LED eyebrow
  • White LED turn signals
  • Gunmetal eyebrow
  • Gunmetal side reflector
Sorry the pictures aren't so great since it was sunny out today and they're not installed on the car yet...

How much did it cost to get all that work done on those lights?
