HUD is definitely not a must. Wasn't even on my radar when I picked mine up - just a gimmick (or another electronic gadget that will eventually break!) in my book.

Personally, I would opt for as late a model year and as low mileage as possible. Ideally both. Those two factors would outweigh virtually all other options. I would also avoid as many electronic and mechanical optional extras as possible - simply because it is a BMW, and they will fail you at some point.

I would wait for an 08, exactly how you want it. I have HUD and wouldn't miss it, neither would I miss the ventilated seats. What I regret is not holding out to find an alpine white one. Hey want to buy mine???

I think HUD is really important too. Try doing 100 mph and having to look down at the tach at when to shift taking your eyes off the road.

You will be MUCH happier if you hold out for exactly what you are looking for. They are out there, but you must be patient.

Uhm - and why would I need to look at the tach to know when to shift? Gazzilions of people have successfully shifted gears at higher speeds before HUDs came about. It's a cool gimmick - nothing more, nothing less.

Since you have owned an M5 before you were conceived, this doesn't apply to everyone. lol

It is also a safety feature. A zillion people drove without seatbelts before they came out...

It comes with a 6 month 8k miles powertrain warranty, but it out of warranty otherwise. I like the car, but I was looking to buy private to avoid $5-$6K in taxes and fees on top of the higher asking price. But I hear what you are saying. I am in a little time crunch because I want this bigger car to replace my smaller Audi A4 due to an expanding family, LOL. Yes, I want/need a 500hp baby hauler.
I can relate!
