Raced my M5 for the first time. 1/4 Mile 12.72

Ran it all night in M Mode with the limited traction control on... best I got was a 13.15 @ 110mph.

Last run of the night I went M mode with traction control off. Ran a 12.72 @ 112mph.... much better!

Also, reaction time was slow on that last run (.422) so with a few more runs I could have gotten that 1/4 time to low 12s. Not bad!

Drags were empty tonight since it was the 4th of July, I got 12 runs in. I won my first 4 races in the bracket, then lost in the final to a slug Dodge Neon that ran a 18.69. LAME... but all in all it was a lot of fun.

Ver Nice!

You will have much more fun in circuit racing with an ///M car. On the drag strip you are only enjoying 40% of it.

Oh I agree. I live about 45 minutes outside Sacramento, there are not any good places for me to race on a track. Had to settle for a straight line.

Reaction has no effect on ET. The clock does not start until the light beam is broken by your tire. Obviously it plays a part in racing as a really slow R/T will allow you to be beaten by a car that has a slower ET than yours. A better area to concentrate on would be the 60ft time. Generally speaking, a drop of a .10 on the short end translates to .2 tenths on the big end. Glad you got to the track. I dont think I will take mine though, darn dragstrips cost me a fortune in broken parts eveytime I go...

Thanks for the clarification on the reaction time. Makes sense.

Hard to drag with the SMG, need to mash the gas during the second yellow to make up for the throttle response lag. That took a bit getting used to.

Mark, dont worry about the Christmas tree, you can sit there for minutes after it goes green and it will not effect your time. Go at your own pace, you are only trying to measure your car's true performance anyway. I would rather take a better ET on my timeslip with a loss to the guy next to me than a slower ET with a win. Its all for fun anyway. Good luck, maybe I will take mine to the track...what could possibly go wrong? lol...

Great point on the tree... I was trying to get my timing down for brackets. I won my first 4 races, lost in the final.

A lot of fun, not something I would do every week, but once or twice a year is fun. I liked smoking these guys in obnoxious loud camaros with racing slicks doing massive burnouts.
