Just a HEADS UP on Mobility Tire Kit

Just wanted to share my past experience with the M-mobility tire repair kit. I seen someone trying to use their kit the other day and helped him out.

Just a FYI, DONT use the kit for aftermarket wheels...I used it on my first set of HREs I had a few years back and man was it a mess when I got the tires changed. I guess it works for stock wheels but I would highly suggest not to use on aftermarket wheels as it will damage the Tire valve and sensor. I had a tire guy who I had to use due to being stuck ruin a tire sensor and valve by yanking it out. I wish I had pics to show the mess as the valve would not take in air after using the kit and going to the tire shop when air wouldn't even go in.

Just a heads up as there are more ppl rocking aftermarket wheels and would hate for someone else to go thru this.

Knock on wood, just one flat tire since I started driving BMWs. I don't carry mobility gel, just regulator tire fix and a good compressor in the trunk. What sort of object puncturing your tire would render tire fix useless? When I had a nail in the aforementioned tire of my previous car it inflated with no issue and I drove at regular speeds on the interstate and got it plugged later that day. I have contemplated getting a regular wheel, something bigger than a space saver, for long trips so I won't be limited 55mph and can finish the journey at regular speeds. I bought a 4ton bottle jack from pep boys and it worked decently, better than a scissor jack, when I was removing wheels to wax them. I also noticed that all but one of my jack point plastic thingies are missing.

I used it once with my 20" Avus wheels. The guys at my tire shop didnt say a word about it? Ive heard horror stories similar to yours about using the fix a flat stuff. I am sure it is a big mess. It worked great though!!

I don't understand why it matters if it's stock or aftermarket wheels? When you say sensors, are you talking about the TPMS sensors? If so, you would have them on either your stocks or aftermaket wheels so what's the difference? And yeah, I'm sure the can sealant will be messy once you remove the tire to repair, regardless of what wheels you have right? Maybe I'm not understanding your post correctly.

I used it on my wheels when I did the last BMW car clinic along with Tony (above) and John.......I had no issues except the valve on my rim is placed close to one of the spokes and it was a real tight fit.

EDIT: Tony I think he may be reffering to the air compressor.

You only used the air compressor of the mobility kit. I think the OP is talking about the can sealant.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the sealant since he keeps referring to it being messy a few times. The air compressor itself is great, I've used it probably over a dozen times and don't how it could be messy or ruin your air valve/stem/sensor.

As for the sealant, it does have an expiration date on it in case people don't know. I bought a new one recently cause mine had expired. Hoping I'll never have to use it but will if a tow truck's gonna take hours to get to me when I'm on a lonely strectch of I5. haha

Yah guys I am referring to the sealant. I never used it on my stock wheels so I wouldn't know what the difference is but assume if they give it with the car it should work, maybe the valves are different or something but I still wouldn't use it on my stock wheels, not the sealant anyways.

On the TPMS sensors the air valve is connected to the sensor so thats how mine got damaged due to the Sealant being in the tire valve and thanks to the "tire guy" being a barbarian with the valve, broke the valve stem.

ECF, the sealant is whats messy, so I hope that clears it up for you.
