Navigation DVD Running Hot??

So these past two days I've noticed that my navigation in the side window would stop working. Going to the Nav screen, it says DVD error. I eject the DVD and notice that it is very, very hot. I let it cool down, re-insert it. Nav works for a few minutes, but then dies again. I eject the DVD again and it is again very hot.

Anyone else experience this issue and/or know of a fix?

Much appreciated!

Mine does this regularly since I started using a new disc. In the year prior with the 07 disc I never had any issues so i am going to go back to using that one. Since I've taken the new disc out my iDrive have also stopped restarting itself.

Mine does the same thing when it is over 80F. Disc read error. After the car cools down, it is fine. My advisor says they will replace next time I'm in.

I've had that problem with my non-OEM discs, not with the OEM disc though. It seems the discs suffer internal heat cracks that you can see in the disc itself. I have been meaning to try a better quality disc, as the OEM feels thicker than the none OEM's I used.

I'm covered under CPO warranty now, not the factory one. I don't think CPO covers the Nav though, but I'll check.

I am indeed using a burned copy of the 2012 disc. Maybe I'll try going back to the OEM one. Thanks for all the suggestions!

You just need to slow down - you're driving too fast and it can't keep up with the turn by turn...

Try using the OEM disc see if the problem persists I believe it will fix it!
