SPEC Clutch & Flywheel

Hey all,

After the whole fiasco that is CNS Racing, I was wondering if anyone on here has actually given the SPEC clutch & flywheel kit a go? My M5 is on 103k KM (~64k mi) and still on its first OEM clutch. I'm starting to feel the slippage (and on top of my recent red cog issues that have really scared me), I think I should start ordering parts in for a clutch replacement.

I've searched and have found some people who had looked at ordering but no one who had actually gone and installed it (unless I've failed at searching).

I am in Australia so will have to look at ordering from overseas. Are there any other aftermarket alternatives without going OEM? My car is mostly stock except for the usual scoop/intake and section-3 exhaust so basically stock power and I'm not planning to get more power. Just want a good OEM replacement alternative.

Thanks in advance,
Linh

I am planning on installing one directly from SPEC. I am just awaiting a final price on my next project as I want to install the clutch at the same time.

Have you spilled the beans on your next project yet or is it still a secret?

Still waiting for some videos from your GoPro...

yeah next project sounds interesting

let us know how you go with the SPEC clutch if you do end up going ahead with it. eg. which one you buy, price, etc...

anyone else who's actually gone ahead with it? im sure there are other people who didn't want to pay for an OEM unit?

I am sure there are some people on this board who have put SPEC clutches in their cars.

I think a search will reveal them.

From what I have read on this forum and discussed with SPEC, their clutch kits should be very good and should last considerably longer than the OEM kits.

I shall definitely put a SPEC clutch in my car once the OEM wears out.

It's not a big secret, well I don't think it is. I am dropping compression and going with forged pistons and rods, then will turn up the boost on the VT2 kit. Should see some nice power gains with the extra 5psi.

This also maybe where the clutch gives out so will be the best time to upgrade also.

Videos will follow but my local peeps have all been busy with work or new house purchases so it's been quiet this year. My new external mic just arrived yesterday
