looking to upgrade to a e60 m5 in the near future...and i need some help!!!!

I currently own a e46 m3, im looking into upgrading to an smg e60 m5 soon, but i heard that both manual and smg have had trans issues for the 06 and 07 models, my question to you guys is that is the recall has been done, is it ok to purchase a 06 or 07? Or would it be better for me to save my money and go with an 08 model? Im sure theres a thread on this already but i cant seem to find it, any help guys?

I made the same switch as you and went to an 08. Good rule of thumb is to buy the latest model you can afford.

SMG equipped cars in 06-07 had recalls to the SMG pump. Though some dealers only honored the recall if the car was having issues. One way to check is to run the VIN at a BMW dealer to view the service history.

I agree with what the above said; buying the latest model year you can afford is best.
